Eddie Vedder was born on 23 December 1964 as Edward Louis Severson III in the municipality of Evanston, near Chicago. After moving to San Diego at a young age, Eddie received a guitar from his mother, with which he began making demos on his own as a teenager. Because he met like-minded people, it didn’t take long before he started playing in his first bands.

In 1990, Vedder ran into former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, who handed him a demo from a still singerless band from Seattle, Pearl Jam. Vedder quickly wrote lyrics for the three songs on the demo and sent it back, after which he was invited to audition and secured the job.
In 1995, Eddie Vedder made his first musical side step by contributing to the soundtrack for the film Dead Man Walking with Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. From 2001 onwards, several similar projects followed, including for the films I Am Sam (2001), Big Fish (2003), Body of War (2007) and Reign Over Me (2007).
With the soundtrack for the film Into the Wild, Eddie Vedder definitively put himself on the map worldwide as a soundtrack maker. This film by Sean Penn was released in 2007 and the calm, atmospheric songs Vedder recorded fit perfectly with the story of a boy who sells all his possessions and money and ventures into the wilderness of Alaska.
With the first official solo album Ukulele Songs released in 2011, Vedder achieved less success and recognition due to the slightly experimental nature of the record. With only ukulele accompaniment, he recorded original songs and covers.
In 2019, Eddie Vedder had two songs in the Top 2000.
