Beyoncé is the lead singer of Destiny's Child, and in 2003 she released her solo debut Dangerously In Love. The album earned her five Grammys. Beyoncé has since released six albums.
Beyoncé Knowles was born on 4 September 1981. After a number of very successful albums, Destiny's Child took a break in 2002. The girls began working on their solo careers at that time.
'Crazy In Love'
In 2003 Beyoncé scored a huge summer hit with 'Crazy In Love'. It was the first single from her debut album Dangerously In Love. Rapper Jay Z features on the track. The two eventually started a relationship. Beyoncé's popularity surpassed that of Destiny's Child. Singles like 'Baby Boy', with Sean Paul, 'Naughty Girl' and 'Me, Myself and I' also scored very well.
Reunion
Destiny's Child reunited in 2004. A new album and a number of successful singles were released. However, the reunion did not last long. The group decided to split up for good in 2005.
Second studio album
The end of Destiny's Child meant even more success for Beyoncé as a solo artist. In September 2006 she released her second studio album B'Day. In the first week of release, 540,000 copies were sold in the United States. The singles 'Deja Vu', a collaboration with Jay-Z, and 'Irreplaceable' became big hits.
Dreamgirls
Alongside her musical career, Beyoncé has also been active in acting. In 2006 she appeared in The Pink Panther and Dreamgirls. For her role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls she received a Golden Globe nomination. Beyoncé also contributed to the film's soundtrack.
I Am ... Sasha Fierce
In 2008 Beyoncé continued her success with I Am... Sasha Fierce. On this album she plays with the duality between Beyoncé the woman and Beyoncé the stage persona: Sasha Fierce (complete with metal glove and extreme outfits). Singles include 'Diva', 'Halo' and 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)'. She also portrayed singer Etta James in the film Cadillac Records.
Albums
Beyoncé's long-awaited fourth album is called 4. This diva once again showcases her voice on a varied R&B tracklist. The title was chosen by her fans on Twitter and Facebook and besides being her fourth album, it also represents the date of her birthday and wedding day. 'Run The World (Girls)' and 'Best I Never Had' are on 4. In December 2013 Beyoncé released her fifth album BEYONCÉ without prior announcement. The first single was 'XO'.
Lemonade
In 2016 the single 'Formation' was released as a preview of the album Lemonade which appeared later that year. The album has 12 tracks and is so far the most acclaimed album of the singer, earning nine Grammy nominations and winning the Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video.
Bees
Beyoncé lives up to her nickname ‘Queen B’ and keeps 80,000 bees at home. When she is not working on her music career, she devotes herself to beekeeping.
She recently revealed this in an interview with British Vogue. When the interviewer asked her to share something surprising about herself, she said: “I have two real beehives.” In those hives live about 80,000 bees which produce hundreds of jars of honey annually. She immediately explained why she took on the care of these special creatures. “My daughters Blue and Rumi both have severe allergies, and honey has numerous healing properties,” said the bee queen.
Top 2000
In the 23rd edition of the Top 2000 Beyoncé has 5 entries:
Sunday Morning Classic
On 16 January 2022 Queen B was our guest as Sunday Morning Classic with her debut album Dangerously In Love from 2003.
It quickly became clear that Destiny’s Child increasingly revolved around Beyoncé Knowles, as she was co-author and co-producer of most songs on Survivor. She also took almost all lead vocals. After some solo outings, a solo album was inevitable.
The album opens with the sparkling hit single Crazy in Love. That promises something. If all sixteen songs sound this funky… for the listener expecting an album with exclusively up-tempo R ’n B, they will be disappointed. ‘Miss Bee’ is not planning to be confined to one musical box. Broadly, the songs on the album can be divided into up-tempo, groovy mid-tempo and ballads. In addition, a number of very diverse guest appearances were attracted, giving the album a great deal of variety. For example, Hip Hop Star with rapper Big Boi (Outkast) is a tough and angular number, while the duet with supreme crooner Luther Vandross, The Closer I Get to You, is a classic eighties ballad, with visions of a crackling fireplace immediately coming to mind. Signs (featuring Missy Elliott) is a dreamy, laid-back number with typical musical Missy quirks. This does not mean the singer cannot manage on her own. The sultry Naughty Girl and the smooth, groovy Be With You are very successful. The most exciting track is the dragging Yes, which seems a mix between smooth R ’n B and the crackling fairy-tale music of Björk.
The songs on Dangerously in Love are all successful, although it should be noted that not all songs are equally exciting. Especially in the ballads Beyoncé treads somewhat on thin ice, risking artistic slips, but fortunately she never goes off the rails. The polished production and her oh-so pleasant voice keep the entire album exciting enough. Even the least successful song on the album is still simply good. Yes, the undersigned is in love, and accepts the small flaws. Miss Bee has delivered a fine record with Dangerously in Love!
